vitamin d deficiency

Vitamin D deficiency can cause many problems in human organism and its lack of it, is very common among people who live in Earth northern hemisphere.

Vitamin D has a very big influence on pregnant women and for health of yet unborn baby.

All UK and USA researchers consider that daily intake of vitamin d for pregnant women are strictly advisable. At least amount, which will keep levels of vitamin d in organism adequate.

Health.com and many other health magazines reported study of Medical University of South Carolina where they said: "500 women who were at least 12 weeks pregnant took 400, 2,000, or 4,000 IU of vitamin D per day. The women who took 4,000 IU were least likely to go into labor early, give birth prematurely, or develop infections."

Yet all of the researchers and doctors agreed that in pregnancy, women should not take vitamin d supplements on their own, and that best thing is the consultation with their doctor.

Also it is worth of mentioning that all done studies were on women in their second trimester or later, so there are no studies what is larger intake of vitamin D earlier safe.

All researchers agreed that vitamin D daily dosage should be done through daily diet, not some specific supplements, yet vitamin D supplements can be prescribed to women with acute symptoms of vitamin d deficiency.

Recommended dose of sunshine vitamin daily is not exactly specified but most of the doctors will concur that 10 micrograms/day should be enough and that such dose will not do any harm
